Plastics at Sea

Saturday 22 August 2020
Schedule 16:30-18:30

Area Marina Protetta di Miramare - Viale Miramare 345, Trieste

Description

The WWF Marine Protected Area of Miramare and the ARPA del Friuli Venezia Giulia organize a workshop for families focused on the topic of marine waste and the impact of plastics and microplastics on our sea. Thanks to the collection and census activity of the waste present on the beach of the Protected Area, the participants will be able to analyze under the microscope the microplastics and microfibres present, with the help of an ARPA technician.
Experts from ARPA Friuli Venezia Giulia and the educational staff of the Miramare Marine Protected Area, with the collaboration of the volunteers of the Picknitartcafe association, will address the problem of the pervasiveness of these materials in both aquatic and terrestrial environments through guided visits to the Biodiversity Marino (BioMa) and the organization of laboratory activities for the recovery of plastic materials.
